Me (David S)

As this is a Christian site involving Bible studies, I will only mention the Christian side of me:

I am a Christian, a brother in Christ, Christian friend, software engineer (gradually leaving that vocation, however). I became a Christian when I was in the middle school and was baptised in 1979.

I had served as a teaching elder in a Church for about 14 years. My work involved preaching, teaching, and overseeing Church ministries. I resigned from the elder position because of some health issue (an emergency open-heart surgery) but also because I came to realize that my christian works became limited if I stayed in serving a local church. There are a lot of needs in different countries, especially in the area of Bible study and theology, and I want to concentrate on studying and teaching.

I have been teaching theology for over 10 years in places where Christianity is still not completely welcome (so please don’t ask me about this in public). Classes that I have taught include hermeneutics, systematic theology, and synoptic gospels. All my students are full-time workers, future pastors or pastors who have not had formal training due to special circumstances. In the past couple of years I have also extended the ministry through putting Bible study materials online. Some studies are for Christians in general, others are for seminary students or seminary graduates. Most of them are in a different language, however.

Prior to that I have served as a deacon in a Church for about 14 years. That was a long time, so I have served in different positions involving different areas of ministries. A lot of works involved university students. I have started working with them since I myself was a student at the University of Michigan.

And prior to that I have served in the Church as a teacher in children evangelism posts, youth-group coworker, church organist, choir member, and various other positions/functions while I was in high school (in another country).

My current objective is to continue my own study and teaching of the Bible. I am strong promoter of Bible interpretation according to the original intent of the authors of the Bible. Whenever possible and permissible, I also try to promote Bible study and basic theology for all Christians.

Education:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, University of Michigan, 1984, magna cum laude
